Spring mounts also called spring saddles attach to the upper control arm and support the spring on several Ford applications. These fit 1964 thru 73 Mustangs, but also fit Falcons, Ranchero, Torino, Cougar, Granada, Maverick, and others. The mount bolts to the upper arm and the spring rests on the top of the saddle. What takes place is as the cars suspension moves up and down the spring saddle pivots allowing the coil spring to stay straight and handle the load properly. The shock is also bolted to the spring saddle so this acts as a limiter for full droop. Factory saddles use rubber and can resist movement of the suspension. This can and does affect the spring rate and sometimes ride height. Installing a spring saddle that does not resist movement (pivot) allows the car to preform better and consistent.
